Reminds me of how we’re supposed to think of characters like Edward Cullen from Twilight as “endearing” when he basically stalks Bella, is overprotective of her and essentially acts as a guardian instead of a boyfriend.

Obviously parents are supposed to protect their kids. Obviously people want to look out for their significant other/loved ones. But yes, there is a line between “looking out” and being controlling and overstepping boundaries.
