…This show was honestly amazing.
[image: watercolor painting of the silhouette of a face, with paints dripping around them. on their hair is the text “coercion is not consent”]
Painted this after having a flashback one night. I’ve had PTSD for three years now, but I’ll be damned if I can’t make something beautiful come out of it.
Submitted by rosewater-sailor. This is absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for sharing. PTSD is such a hard thing to deal with on a daily basis, and I’m so sorry you are experiencing it (and had to undergo sexual assault). I’m so happy to see you are making this into something beautiful. Thank you, keep on keepin’ on <3
This is very important to remember. Achieving a yes after dozens of Nos is not the same as consent.
I was hoping you would let me take a moment to celebrate.
Taught me about Etta James rage screaming so the entire world can feel your Billy Holiday pain breaking down until you’re in the depths of Maya Angelou clarity, that you won’t crush your baby in the night and Lauryn Hill trust that your instincts will deliver what you Susan B. Anthony deserve. Not subduing that Rosa Parks last nerve. Being Grace Jones art that can’t be Billie Jean King denied. And accept the Joan of Arc illumination in the Harriet Tubman night without tipping that Coco Chanel balance because ain’t it your Sojourner Truth right? Never loose because you simply Benazir Bhutto can’t, and feed the broken people with your Ann Sullivan hands. Taught me how to hold the Jane Adams door open, and take the Amelia Earhart leap and dance to your death with your Josephine Baker feet. Drop the Fannie Lou Hamer on the front lines of humanity, Dolores Huerta lend them some instruction in their moral catastrophes. And somewhere a face devoid of love or grace, needs an Emily Dickinson word, and though A wounded deer leaps highest, sometimes that wounded child needs a Ivelise Markovits turn. Taught me about Coretta Scott King believing, and Eve Ensler creating, and before you even take a step, Terry Tempest Williams looking back and seeing.

this looks like a fantastic project. y’all should get involved!
Ok so I was thinking it would be cool to make a mix of awesome (hopefully danceable) songs that send a positive message about women’s bodies and address political female body issues. Here’s what I have so far:
What others can we add?
